The annual MHEA Kindergarten Graduation is a ceremony to celebrate our youngest children's achievements, while also ushering them into their "official" start of school. Our celebration includes a morning practice which concludes with lunch. In the evening of the same day, the actual ceremony is held where the children march into the sanctuary and up on the stage wearing the traditional white cap and gown. Each student is presented their diploma by a representative of MHEA. There are special songs sung and a keynote speaker inspires and entertains both children and parents alike. It is a sweet, moving ceremony.

.

NOTE: All graduating kindergartener's families must be MHEA members.

MHEA hosts an annual Senior Graduation. It is a traditional cap-and-gown ceremony, with the parent(s) joining their students on stage as diplomas are distributed. Each year a highly significant Keynote Speaker provides outstanding encouragement for our young adults as they proceed to their next stage in life. There are performances by highly talented seniors as well as special recognition for those with special accomplishments. Members of the MHEA Honor Society wear a special gold drape designating their academic accomplishments. The MHEA Outstanding Students are recognized as well. There are several other awards distributed and this wonderful tradition is a delight to all.

NOTE: To participate in the Senior Graduation, families of students's participating in the ceremony must be members of MHEA for the graduate's entire junior and senior years. Exceptions to this policy will only be granted after consideration by the MHEA Administrative Board. Further information on this policy will be available during the first parent/student graduation meeting.

The 2014 MHEA graduation ceremony was a wonderful occasion marked by joy and celebration. Special events included: music by the MHEA HiS Choir under the direction of John McWhorter, banners provided by Bellevue Baptist Church, the beautiful piano processional and recessional performed by Anthony Baird, the graduates in their royal blue caps and gowns, the outstanding performance of “It Is Well With My Soul” by Benjamin Lies, and Randy Shepherd, the keynote speaker from Crossfire Ministries.

Many awards and special recognitions were also made. MHEA was pleased to recognize eighteen graduates of Eta Sigma Alpha National Homeschool Honor Society. There were addresses by class valedictorian, Jordan Weaver, and co-salutatorians, Hayden Quick and Kyle Salzgeber. The MHEA Sue Parkerson Memorial Scholarships in the amount of $1000 each were presented to Davis Reese and Andrea Seibert. The 2014 MHEA/THEA Outstanding Students were Mary Kate Daugherty and Emily Endraske. The Leo Crofford Homeschool Pioneer Award was given to Derrick and Terry Denny with 23 years of home education. Last, but far from least, MHEA was honored to have a Merchant Marine appointee, Jordan Weaver, presented by Walt Starr and Cory Franklin.

Thanks to Helen Sater for turning all of the seniors‛ questionnaires into a nice booklet so we could read about our graduates‛ achievements and future plans and also for her work on the program - even with all of the last minute changes. Thanks go to Bill and Raynne Randolph for their work on printing the diplomas and special awards. They were beautiful!! Thanks to Jim and Dee Rohde for helping with all of the graduation details. Wayne Addison did an amazing job as Master of Ceremonies. Ryan Armstrong did a great job of escorting the single mothers off the platform. A big Thank You to the dads who were our banner carriers and Brett Buckhold, who carried the Jesus banner.

Special thanks also to ALL the many others who volunteered behind the scenes to make graduation a success this year!! A really big thank you goes to Bellevue Baptist Church and Steve Cowart - the facility was magnifi cent and your help before and during the ceremony was greatly appreciated.

    A Special Note of Thanks

I want to personally thank the graduates and their parents for the beautiful yellow roses, the monetary gift, and for allowing me to be
part of this milestone in their lives. To Kathy Armstrong and Karen Johnson - thank you for fi lling in for me so I was able to enjoy my
own two graduates from the University of Memphis! I also want to thank the MHEA Board, my wonderful husband Bill, my children (Niki, Samantha, and Josh), and all of my extended family for allowing me to invest the hours needed to plan this year‛s graduation, and for being there when I needed them to help me brainstorm. Without all of you, I could not have done it. Thanks again to EVERYONE for a remarkable year. Congratulations Class of 2014!!! Blessings to each of you.
